[COURTANVAUX, François-Michel-César Le Tellier, Marquis de (1718-1781)]. Catalogue des livres de la bibliotheque de feu François-César Le Tellier, Marquis de Courtanvaux... Paris: Nyon l'aîné, 1782.
8° (196 x 122 mm). Printed Index on pages 353-434 and 24-page printed price list at end. (Lacking half-title.) Contemporary calf-backed boards (some restoration to spine and corners). Provenance: François Potocki (bookplate); Joseph A. Frielich (booklabel; sold Sotheby’s New York, 11 January 2001, lot 352).
FIRST EDITION. Courtanvaux's library consisted of manuscripts, maps, and prints, as well as an extensive collection of travel literature. It's thought that the Marquis' son, Charles-François César, started the library with the intention of creating a bibliography of travel literature. On the verso of the half-title, a notice states that at a later date, the printer was to furnish an index, as well as a list of prices to accompany the catalogue. This copy includes both. Blogie II, col. 15; North 295.
