Liquid-gold initials, paragraph marks and line-fillers painted on red and blue grounds. Ruled and underlined in red. 16th-century North-European blind-tooled brown calf over thin wooden boards, outer border of roll-tooled vines and triple fillets surrounding 5 vertical columns in the same pattern, with 4 clasps and catches (skilfully rebacked to match, gilt-lettered on spine, clasps and catches renewed). Provenance: Mechtild family of Guelders (2-pages of genealogical notes at end, 16th and 17th century, recording births, deaths, and marriages).
