Le présent dessin est une étude principale pour le tableau intitulé L’avion dans le ciel, que Fernand Léger peint en 1939 (Bauquier, no.1063). Il est à noter que la croix de Lorraine visible dans le dessin est transformée en simple objet vertical (barré par un nuage) dans le tableau final.
The present work is a preparatory drawing for the painting entitled L’avion dans le ciel which Fernand Léger painted in 1939 (Bauquier, no. 1063). One can note that the cross of Lorraine from the drawing is transformed into a simple vertical object crossed by a cloud in the final painting.
