Cette œuvre est une étude pour La chasse aux papillons, exécutée en 1929 pour illustrer l'ouvrage La femme visible de Salvador Dalí publié en 1930. Il s'agit aussi d'une étude pour une tête représentée dans L'homme invisible peint en 1929 et aujourd'hui conservé au Museo Nacional Centre de Arte Reina Sofía, à Madrid.

This work is a study for La chasse aux papillons, executed in 1929 to illustrate the book La femme invisible by Salvador Dalí, published in 1930. It is also a study for a head represented in L'homme visible painted in 1929 and now housed at the Museo Nacional Centre de Arte Reina Sofía, in Madrid.
