Lot Essay

Two folios in the Fogg Art Museum displaying a similar calligraphic composition and layout and mounted with identical album mounts are attributed to Ahmad Qarahisari (1958.208). It is likely that the present page comes from the same album and is also by the hand of the celebrated master. See Annemarie Schimmel, Calligraphy and Islamic Culture, New York University Press, 1984, p.82 and object 1958.208, accessible on https://www.harvardartmuseums.org/collections .
