MEWAR, NORTH INDIA, SECOND HALF 18TH CENTURY
Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the Virgin Mary wearing a black veil and breastfeeding the Child, his head with a gold nimbus, within a pink medallion, a water-lilly pond below and a walled palace in the background, with attribution to the artist Shaykh Turab in nasta'liq script below, with red and yellow rules and aubergine borders
