Stoutly potted with the head forming the hinged cover, the body moulded with bold scrolls over 'pencil'-style fur markings

Compare the very similar censer from the Butler Family Collection which was illustrated by Sir Michael Butler and Professor Wang Qingzheng in Seventeenth Century Jingdezhen Porcelain from the Shanghai Museum and the Butler Collection, London, 2006, no. 130, pp. 340 & 341, where it is dated to the Tianqi period (1621-1627).
