Lot Essay

Stromatolites are amongst the earliest known forms of life (some have been confirmed at 3.43 billion years old) and their formation is vigorously debated amongst palaeontologists. It is still uncertain if these formations from 600 million years ago are stromatolitic or abiogenic in origin.
