Icones plantarum rariorum. Haarlem: C. Plaat, [1792]-1793-[1795]. 2° (468 x 302mm). Half-title, 48 engraved plates (47 with contemporary hand colouring as issued) by and after H. Schwegman and P. van Loo. (Small marginal hole to first leaf and a few light scattered spots.) Contemporary half calf over boards (extremities rubbed, corners bumped and spine ends chipped).

FIRST EDITION, published in 4 instalments. A beautiful work with fine hand colouring and margins visible on all plates; with the text in Latin, Dutch, French and German. ‘Holland produced several magnificently illustrated works, of which Schneevoogt's Icones Plantarum Rariorum... is the finest. Its plates record new and rare plants cultivated in Holland, many of which were grown in the celebrated Voorhelm and Schneevoogt nursery at Haarlem’ (Blunt p.168).
