EARLY 19TH-CENTURY
the Farey-type ellipsograph in brass with two steel guide rules, comprised of two 4-inch circles fitted over one another, moved by a small rack and pinion, with a pair of milled screw heads, which enable different varieties of ellipse to be drawn, in fitted wooden case
