THE WHITE PAPER ON THE SHAW REPORT, announcing that the recommendations of the Shaw Commission were being favourably viewed, while acknowledging Lord Snell's dissenting opinion. Self-wrappers (lacking staples, fore-margin of upper cover dust-soiled). Provenance: Law Society (stamp on upper cover with accession date of 21 Oct 1930). THE PASSFIELD WHITE PAPER. Issued by the colonial secretary Lord Passfield in the wake of the 1929 riots, this statement supported the Hope-Simpson report (see lot xxx) that Jewish immigration pressurized and displaced the Arab population of Palestine, rejecting the view that the Jewish National Home was the principal feature of the Mandate, and emphasised the obligations of the Mandatory authority towards the Arab population.
