LEAGUE OF NATIONS REPORT ESTABLISHING OWNERSHIP OF THE WESTERN WALL, and the religious observances permitted there. Accompanying this report is AN EXTREMELY RARE PAMPHLET MARKED 'CONFIDENTIAL'. In it, Cust, the former District Officer of Jerusalem, describes in detail the religious practices of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Sanctuary of the Ascension, the Tomb of the Virgin at Gethsemane, the Church of the Nativity, the Wailing Wall, and Rachel's Tomb. The publication was printed in December 1929, but the important addendum leaf was printed in April 1930. The addendum details the emergency provisional instructions for observances issued by the High Commissioner in the light of the 1929 riots, and notes that the League of Nations committee is about to be appointed. ONLY A SINGLE COPY OF CUST'S WORK CAN BE TRACED IN INSTITUTIONS (Israeli State Archive). Khalidi & Khaddurri 1851 (first named work only).
