A LARGE COPPER REPOUSSE FIGURE OF HAYAGRIVA
17TH CENTURY
The figure is modelled standing in alidhasana on prostrate bodies on a lotus base. He is grasping his consort in yabyum position and holds a kapala in one of his primary hands, while his other arms radiate around him, a pair of wings attached on each of his shoulder blades. His primary and two flanking heads are cast in a wrathful expression with tall flaming hair from which three horse's heads emerge. His consort holds a kapala in one and a lotus stem in the other hand. Traces of gilt, red and blue pigments are visible.
