拍品专文

This piece is a remarkable and attractive example of early aviator’s wristwatch. The luminous dial is preserved in amazing condition; its multi-scale design is extremely pleasant to the eye and betrays the elected destination of the piece: not only it features inner numerals for military time (13, 14, 15….), but also has a degreemetre scale, graduated from 0 to 180 degrees. This is because at the time planes were usually “factory set” to turn at a rate of 3 degrees per second. By activating the chronograph when the plane starts banking, the pilot can have a real time indication of the ongoing amplitude of the turn.
