Of rectangular form, carved on both sides with a Tang dynasty poem, the characters heightened in gilt, the stone of a mottled tone
7 x 4 ¼ in. (17.5 x 11 cm.)
The poem was written by the poet Bai Juyi (772-846), and describes the wealthy lifestyle of a salt merchant's wife.
