A POLYCHROME WOOD MANUSCRIPT COVER DEPICTING UMAMAHESHVARA
NEPAL, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The rectangular panel depicting Umamaheshvara at the centre, seated on the bull placed on a lotus base, the white four-armed Shiva holding his consort Parvati and the prescribed attributes, his face with enigmatic expression and halo behind his head, flanked to each side with a worshipping male and female couple and accompanied by their children, reverse painted with scattered flowers
