拍品專文

With its grand scale and impressive design, this chaise is emblematic of the finest furniture shown by the celebrated Parisian firm Fourdinois at the great Exhibitions of the late 19th century. This model of chaise was shown at the 1878 Paris Exposition universelle and engraved in the Art Journal for that year where it was also described as "...graceful and beautiful, the composition having exercised a brilliant fancy" (see Art Journal, An Illustrated Catalogue of the Paris International Exhibition, 1878, p. 101).
