A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE 'LION AND CUB' GROUP
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The large recumbent beast is carved in the round with his head detailed with bulbous eyes below prominent eyebrows and curled fur swept, partially covering its prominent dorsal spine. The young cub by its side is similarly portrayed grasping a brocade ball. The stone is of an opaque creamy beige-white tone with some russet inclusions.
