AN INSCRIBED AND DATED DUAN INKSTONE
DATED BY INSCRIPTION TO THE FIRST YEAR OF JIAQING, CORRESPONDING TO 1796, OR EARLIER
The rectangular inkstone is carved with a smoothly polished grinding surface inclining into a troughed inkwell. One vertical side and the base are carved with inscriptions by Ruan Yuan with a Jiaqing yuannian (first year of Jiaqing) date.
