Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with onyx and diamond-set dials in 1978 and its subsequent sale on November 30th, 1987.

Reference 4404 was in production from 1976 to circa 1979. It is a wonderfully elegant and unusual example of a dual time wristwatch, however, the present example is made even more appealing by two dials which have been fully cast with diamonds, set against a black onyx rectangular-shaped dial. This watch would be an asset to any watch collector who may also appreciate travel and the ability to know to separate time zones for home and away, for example, by simply glancing at their wrist.

The Caliber 13.5 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery,1998, p. 36 pl. 45.
