Da Vinci is considered the archtype of the Renaissance man due to his interest and pursuits in many fields of mathematics and science. In addition to being a great painter, he is also known for his contributions to many disciplines including engineering, optics and hydrodynamics. IWC created the Da Vinci collection to pay homage to the man who had a lifelong passion devoted to the precise measurement of time of which examples have been seen in countless sketches and watchmaking inventions which are still used today.

The present watch is number 39 in a limited edition of 200 examples.
