Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1992 and its subsequent sale on September 8th of the same year.

Produced as part of the third series, the present watch is offered as the desired pink gold version of the celebrated reference 3970. This perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch was launched in 1986 and replaced the reference 2499. In its first years of production, it took extremely skilled craftsman to produce such a complicated wristwatch that production was limited to just 50 per year.

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.

For an example of this reference in yellow gold and also in white gold please see Lot 126 and Lot 159 in this sale.
