Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1999 and its subsequent sale on December 8th of the following year, Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated April, 2001, additional solid case back, setting pin, Patek Philippe winding presentation box, Patek Philippe leather envelope, product literature and outer packaging.

Launching in 1985, the reference 3940 replaced the 3450 and housed the latest caliber 240. It was produced in three series and the present watch is part of the third and final series, only produced between 1998 and 2007. Like the present watch, it was manufactured with a sapphire-crystal display back and an additional solid case back.
