AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED BAND CUP AND AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED LEKYTHOS
CIRCA 6TH-5TH CENTURY B.C.
Each side of the band cup with a central siren flaked by two swans, palmettes either side of the handles, details in added white and red, circa 550-500 B.C.; the lekythos with Herakles fighting a Triton, a Nereid running away on either side, tongues and rays on the shoulder, details in added white, circa early 5th Century B.C.
Cup: 8 ½ in. (21.6 cm.) diam. excl. handles; lekythos: 7 ½ in. (19 cm.) high

Private collection, Hamburg, acquired prior to 1977; and thence by descent to the present owner.
