Lot Essay

For two weeks in February 1954, President Reagan hosted, told stories and performed with The Continentals at The Last Frontier, Las Vegas. Taking the stage in the Romona Room, then the largest showroom in Las Vegas, Variety magazine described Reagan as having a "winning personality." Mrs. Reagan watched every one of her husband's sold out Las Vegas performances. A turning point in the President's acting career, he never returned to the Las Vegas stage. Instead, he went on to make two successful movies and was signed to host CBS-TV's General Electric Theater.
