Calmady Pollexfen Hamlyn (1775-1846) resided at Leawood, Bridestowe, Devon, and held the offices of Justice of the Peace for Devon and Deputy Lieutenant of Devon. In his first role, he worked alongside Albany Saville (c. 1783 – 1831), Justice of the Peace for Devon and M.P. for Okehampton between 1807 and 1820. Saville resided at Oaklands, a mansion erected for him in 1820-1822 by Charles Vokins just outside Okehampton. The town, situated in West Devon, is surrounded by a large parish known as Okehampton Hamlets, within which is the second highest peak in Dartmoor, Yes Tor.
