The model of the present clock may be attributed to the celebrated bronzier Pierre-Philippe Thomire whose drawing for a clock of this model is in the National Museum of Stokholm. A further clock of this identical model is illustrated in H. Ottomeyer, Vergoldete Bronzen, Vol II, Munich 1986, p.329. It is also likely that it was retailed by the famous dealer and fondeur Claude Galle as an identical model whose case was signed Galle Paris was sold anonymously in Paris, Drouot, 18 June 1948, lot 21.
Further clocks of identical models are illustrated in P.Kjellberg, Encyclopedie de la Pendule Francaise, Paris, 1997, p.402, fig C.
