Château Cheval-Blanc 1959
Saint-Émilion, 1er grand cru classé (A)
Slightly corroded embossed Château capsules, one corroded with signs of seepage. Bin-soiled, damp-affected labels, some slightly damaged. Levels: three base of neck, three top, two upper and two mid/upper-shoulder
Tasting note: Back on form. Hot, difficult vinification but the end result was a superb wine. Most recently: fairly deep; very fragrant; very sweet, very rich with fabulous flavour and aftertaste. Powerful, perfect tannin and acidity. Outstanding. Last tasted April 2002 ***** M.B.
