Details
Mommessin, Clos de Tart 1945
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
Embossed metal capsules, two slightly corroded, one corroded and damaged. Badly bin-soiled and damp-affected labels, one very badly bin-soiled and damaged label. Levels: one 3cm, two 3.5cms and two 6cms
Tasting note: (from a bottle with ~1.5" of ullage that was clearly bottled by Mommessin but the vintage strip was quite
different from what was used in the post-war era). Bricked through but not dull. An expressive nose features notes of volatile
acidity, earth and an animale note that continues onto the supple, intense and powerful big-bodied flavors that are still quite
firm and admirably long. The balance is very good and the length is among the best in the tasting. Comments Allen Meadows (Burghound.com – January 2010)
