The firm Zecchin Martinuzzi was founded in 1932 by the sculptor Napoleone Martinuzzi and the engineer Francesco Zecchin, who had both previously worked for Venini. The firm created glasswares praised for their fresh and distinctive characteristics, reinterpreting typical Murano glass in a modern way. They were present at the Venice Biennale in 1932 and 1934 with a series of vases, plants and animal figures which were highly praised. Despite their critical acclaim, the company ran into financial difficulties and Martinuzzi withdrew in 1936.
