The robe is worked with butterflies in flight amongst scattered flower baskets, flowers, and peach sprays.

Lot Essay

The colour turquoise is usually reserved for high ranking concubines and female members of the Imperial family.
A very similar robe was sold at Christie’s South Kensington, 16 May 2014, lot 1225.
