YONGZHENG PERIOD (1723-1735)
The brush washer is decorated to the exterior with a continuous scene depicting two scholars by a pavilion in a rocky, mountainous landscape. The interior is decorated in famille rose with a scholar. The base bears the Bi ding ruyi mark of a brush, ink cake and ruyi sceptre.

Lot Essay

The mark Bi ding ruyi is a rebus for "may things be settled as you wish".
