A MOTTLED GREY AND REDDISH-RUSSET JADE 'HORSES AND MONKEY' GROUP
19TH CENTURY
The group is carved in the form of two recumbent horses with their heads turned backwards to face each other, with a monkey sitting on one horse, holding a book surrounded by scrolling clouds. The stone is of a mottled dark red-russet and greyish-brown tone, with each animal highlighted in a different colour.
