Details
Petrus 2011
Pomerol, cru exceptionnel
Offered in a six-bottle original wooden case
Tasting note: Challenging year. Severe selection was necessary. The tannin level of the Petrus 2011 is 15% above the 2010, the highest level ever. Olivier Berrouet, the cellar master, compares the 2011 with the 2001. Alcohol level is lower than the previous years.
Deep scarlet red color. Fine elegant nose, backward but intriguing.
Mouthfilling, refined complex taste start, small cherry fruit, sweet and ripe. Pure deep and almost unctuous. The very nice intensity finishes with a beautiful soft oak tone over rich pure cherry fruit. Very nicely balanced, the tannins are well integrated. Packed in power. Very good wine, arguably the best 2011 in Bordeaux. April 2012. EV.
