CIRCA 1770, BLUE INTERLACED L MARKS AND INCISED NUMERALS
Painted and gilt with a wide band of gilt cisel bricks between bands of gilt laurel trailing on an enamel blue seeded ground and gilt line rims, comprising:
A TEAPOT AND COVER (THEIERE 'CALABRE' ET COUVERCLE)
A SLOP-BOWL (JATTE HERBERT)
A SUGAR-BOWL AND COVER (POT A SUCRE 'BOURET' ET SON COUVERCLE 1ERE GRANDEUR)
A MILK-JUG (POT A LAIT TRIPODE)
TWELVE TEACUPS AND TWELVE SAUCERS (GOBELET 'BOUILLARD' ET SOUCOUPE, 2EME GRANDEUR)
The teapot - 5 ½ in. (13.4 cm.) high

See Sevres Porcelain from the Royal Collection, Buckingham Palace, London, 1979, no. 119 for a gobelet litron similarly decorated with gilt and non-red bricks with the gilt laurel on a turquoise seeded ground. A cup and saucer of the same pattern was also sold at Christie's New York on 17 November 1999, Lot 249.
