LOTS 921-950PROPERTY OF A KOREAN PRIVATE COLLECTORIn between old pine and running stream, the collector’s seal found on most of the paintings in this collection, belongs to the family of Young-Ik Min and Pyong-U Min.Young-Ik Min (1860-1914), a prominent figure in the late Joseon Dynasty of Korea, was also a painter who travelled to China in 1887. After political turmoil, he stepped down from the court and spent most of the time studying paintings, calligraphy and seal carving with Chinese artists such as Wu Changshuo. His nephew, Pyong-U Min, followed his footsteps to pursue an interest in classicalChinese art and continued to build up their collection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy.Fifteen works from the same collection will be featured in the online sale, Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online, from 15-28 November.
