Dorothy married Sir Peter Osborn (1584-1653) of Chicksands Priory, Bedfordshire and they had eight sons and four daughters. Their youngest daughter was Dorothy Osborne, Lady Temple (1627-1695), famous as a writer of letters and wife of Sir William Temple, 1st Baronet. Their epistolary courtship, of which only Osborn's side survives, has been published numerous times since their initial appearance in print in 1888.
