These two charming pocket watches (Lots 2753 and 2754) belonged to the present owner’s father who was a French master clockmaker. Coming from a long lineage of clock makers, the original owner established his clock making atelier in Paris in 1960. As a master craftsman, he studied clock mechanisms and developed a particular passion for automatons, clocks and watches from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The owner especially cherished these two fine examples of nineteenth century enamel pocket watches which exhibit refined craftsmanship in both the mechanism and decoration. For over 20 years, he personally looked after these watches, servicing and restoring the mechanism, thus preserving them in their exceptional working condition till the present day.
