Lot Essay

To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never been offered in pubic before and is preserved in very good overall condition.

The celebrated "Officier" model was made to commemorate Patek Philippe's 150th Anniversary in April 1989. The reference 3960's design was influenced by the first wristwatches of the early 20th century with a rounded bezel. The design of the reference 3960 features an officer-style case back that, when opened, reveals the 150th anniversary engraving and movement number. It was available in a limited edition of 2000 pieces in yellow gold, 150 pieces in white gold such as the present watch and 50 pieces in platinum.

The model is illustrated and described in Patek Philippe Museum - Patek Philippe Watches, Vol. II, p. 216.
