Lot Essay

The present plaque compares closely to the portrait of Henri d'Albret realised by Léonard Limosin circa 1550-55, showing a man with a cap turned to his right against a dark-blue background (The Wallace Collection, London, inv. C585). A similar portrait of a nobleman by the workshop of Léonard Limosin sold at Christie's, Paris, 5 November 2014, lot 35.
