The reference 3483 is one of the rarest of all stainless steel wristwatches made by Patek Philippe. Produced only in steel from 1963-1965, this watch features a celebrated 27 SC caliber powering the sweep center seconds.
The steel water-proof screw-back two-piece case was made by Jean Vallon (JV) in La Chauux de Fonds. This example features its original white gold crown with Calatrava cross that is beginning to show a slight tarnish in contrast to the bright finish of the steel case. Furthermore, it has its original Tiffany & Co. retailer signature on the dial and HOX stamped on the balance.
With only 15 pieces known to the market to date, this watch is possibly rarer than the well-known and contemporary reference 3417.
For another image of this reference, see Patek Philippe Steel Watches by John Goldberger, p. 436. For a discussion and addition images of the rare reference 3483, see Patek Philippe: Cult Object and Investment, p. 134-140.
