Lot Essay

Chanel was initially a fashion house founded by Gabrielle Chanel in 1910, and since then it had been one of most favored and well known designer brands in the world. The fashion house decided to start a watch line in 1987 and the first Chanel watch was launched.

In 2000, Chanel introduced the first model of the J12 to the market. Staying true to its legacy, this watch defines both simplicity and innovation. Following this debut, the J12 has since then been produced in various materials and complications such as chronograph, tourbillon and GMT. The present example stands out because of its lavishly decorated dial and case. Although the diamonds and rubies to the watch represent a gem-set jewelry timepiece, the ceramic material also represents durability.
