COCHE-DURY
There’s Meursault and then there’s Coche-Dury. Although the introverted winemaker Jean-François has difficulty accepting the burgeoning popularity of the Domaine’s wines, when pressed, he credits his attention to detail and respect for traditional winemaking practices for their success. Coche-Dury plants almost nine hectares of vineyards on minuscule parcels over six communes: Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, and Volnay. No clones of any kind are planted and the vinifications is extended with extended lees contact. The resulting wines are rich, but with an uplifting acidity, a rare and age-worthy combination.
