Exceedingly rare advance copyright printing in wrappers, preceding the first published edition. On copyright page: “Set up and electrotyped. Published [space], 1906.” Deposited May 9, 1906. These unillustrated and plainly bound copies would have been printed in a very limited number for copyright purposes only. The first published book edition was not published until September 1907 (BAL 11904). BAL only locates a copy at Yale University Library, and one copy has appeared on the market (Christie’s New York, 20 May 1988, lot 169).
