First edition, and the first appearance of the immortal Christmas poem in book form under Moore’s name. This early printing of Moore's poem appears on pp. 217-19. The authorship of the poem remained anonymous until 1837, when Moore permitted his name to be used for this anthology of fugitive poetry by native New Yorkers. A very fine copy.
8vo. Engraved additional title with large vignette, BAL’s State A of the title-page (no priority), set in sans-serif type. (Some minor pale foxing.) Original blind-embossed purple floral cloth, covers with central gilt urn device set within multiple blind-ruled borders, edges gilt; cloth slipcase. BAL 3272.
