Rare, detailed map of coal region in east-central Pennsylvania showing coal deposits, railroads and proposed railroads.
Lithographed map of the coal region, contemporary outline hand-coloring, 460 x 2240 mm. mounted on linen in 32 sections (mostly 290 x 275 mm), edged in green silk, (some light browning and staining). Loose in 19th-century leather backed marbled paper covered boards, manuscript title on upper cover (wear to spine and corners). Provenance: William Rawle (early ownership inscription on verso). See Tooley Dictionary p. 213 (referring to 1849 map of Fisher, Coal Fields Pennsylvania).
