Lot Essay

This chair relates to a set of bergeres in the Chateau de Malmaison made by Jacob Desmalter in 1803 for the boudoir de l'Impratrice at the Chateau de Saint Cloud, after watercolor designs by Charles Percier and Pierre-Franois-Leonard Fontaine, architects and designers to Napoleon I.
