Perestrello, Terrantez 1840
Old two part moulded bottles. New wax capsules. Recorked in 2016 by Francisco Albuquerque. New stencilling. Levels into neck
Perestello is an old Madeira family with connections to Christopher Columbus. This wine came from an old collection near Funchal. After inspection and recorking all bottles were newly stencilled.
Tasting note: Clear golden yellow color. Fresh straw, lemons, spring flowers, touch of varnish and butter on the fine high toned nose. Quite on the concentrated and on the butterscotch side. Very good nose, old furniture wax and fresh herbs. Soft well balanced start of taste, lemon zest, freshly sweet and buttery, vintage furniture wax with fine grapefruit bitters on the finish. Quite elegant, like butter sweets. Fine-tuned Terrantez of very good quality, especially the balance and finesse is remarkable. Very good wine. February 2016 EV.
