Verdelho
Bordeaux shaped bottles. Waxed capsules. Damaged labels. Levels base of neck.
Tasting note: Believed bottled in the nineteen fifties’. Label with just “Verdelho” as the Sercial above. Much deeper color, orange with light red mid. Concentrated nose of vintage furniture wax, old wood, museum aromas, old honey. The extended aging has taken over the fruit aromas and made for more balsamic type of aromas. Still quite pure and fine. Caramel reveals after some time in the glass. A wine showing its long canteiro cask aging. Medium sweet, quite soft mouth filling pleasant taste caramel rich after taste. Actually fairly sweet for a Verdelho, must be over 100 grams of residual sugar. The taste is much more impressive then the nose would have you expect. Rich and lucious. Very old wine of very good quality. February 2016. EV.
