Sercial
Bordeaux shaped bottles. Waxed capsules, two with signs of old seepage. Damaged labels, two missing. Levels: four base of neck, two top-shoulder.
Tasting note: Believed bottled in the nineteen fifties’. Label with just “Sercial”. Deep orange color. Fine nose of concentrated citrus fruits, waxy tones and Indian spices. Full and expressive, the character of a long aging in cask. Say 40 years at least. Intense taste start, straw, butterscotch, quite rich and very nice Sercial. The natural high acidity being all mellowed by extended canteiro aging. A Sercial of very high quality! The bottle and quite simple label don't reveal the greatness inside. February 2016 at Quinta do Avista Navios, which was build in the eighteenth century. Then the vineyards and banana trees surrounded the quinta. The old vineyards have gone and have been replaced by houses. EV.
